The authors’ point of view, as expressed in publications, on the evolution of models taking into account the irregularity of irradiation in time, which are contained in the ICRP Recommendations and are used in radiation risk assessment, is generalized. The formal nature and imperfection of these models is noted. The need to build models based on biological concepts of radiation carcinogenesis is justified.
