The isomeric iminocoumarin luminophores exhibit significantly different fluorescence in aggregate and solid-state due to aggregation induced emission enhancement. The topology of the phenolic hydroxyl group has dictated the emission behaviour of the isomeric luminophores. The selective detection of Fe(III) over Fe(II) by luminophore 1 helps to develop a chemical combinatorial logic gate.
