Immunopathogenesis of haemato-biochemical parameters and haematopoietic organs of Cyprinus carpio var. communis challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila

The present study was conducted on Cyprinus carpio var. communis challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila. The objective of the study was to assess the alteration in various haematological parameters, biochemical parameters and haematopoietic organs of the challenged fish post challenge on the four time points (1st, 3rd, 7th and 10th day). The results obtained showed considerable difference when compared with the standard values of the control which was run parallel to the experimental study. The assessed haematological parameters including the haemoglobin values (mean ± standard deviation) of the challenged fish assessed at the end of the experimental study were found to be lower (2.17 ± 0.52) when compared with the control (3.73 ± 0.28). Similarly, the values for TLC, neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils obtained were greater while as for lymphocytes the values obtained at the end of the experimental study were lower when compared with the control. The values for various blood biochemical parameters as total protein, albumin and globulin were lower while as for bilirubin, triglycerides and glucose the values obtained at the end of the experimental study were greater when compared with the control. The values were statistically analysed (p ≤ 0.05) and found significant, concluding that Ahydrophila is a potential threat to the growing aquaculture sector and can have adverse impact on the health of Cyprinus carpio while raising them in the culture conditions.
