Laser Performance of Active Segment Cladding Fiber Under Heat Load

An amplifier model based on the Yb-doped segment cladding fiber (SCF) is proposed, and three contributions to heat source are taken into account in the proposed mode. Results show that distribution of heat load is dependent on pumping scheme and has impacts on modal gain competition. In addition, SCF presents better HOMs filtering effect and higher amplification efficiency of LP01 when compared with the conventional step index fibers.
