Sodium 6,7-dihydroxynaphthalene-2-sulfonate (DHNS) is obtained by extending the π-conjugated system of catechol by a benzene ring and adding a substituent sodium sulfonate (−SO3−Na+). Cooperative photocatalysis of DHNS−TiO2 nanotubes with 4-amino-TEMPO shows the best activity towards the blue light-induced selective aerobic oxidation of benzylamine to N-benzylidenebenzylamine.
