Abstract

A procedure has been proposed for the synthesis of 2-aryl-5-methyl-1,4-dioxanes by alkoxyiodination of halogen-substituted styrenes with allyl alcohol in the presence of crystalline iodine, (NaK)₄CaAl₆Si₃₀O₇₂ clinoptilolite, and silicotungstic acid sodium salt Na₄SiW₁₂O₄₀·19H₂O in aqueous medium.
