A new strategy was used to prepare NiFeAl nanowires on foam nickel and to remove aluminum in situ. It shows high activity and stability, which is due to the structural defects left after the removal of aluminum. Moreover, the introduction of aluminum can reduce the size of nanoparticles and increase the specific surface area.
