More selective CO-PROX catalysts by directed poisoning through photodeposition

In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Huang, Li, and co-workers report an innovative strategy for suppressing unwanted hydrogen oxidation in preferential oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO-PROX). Through plasmonic excitation of gold, lead oxide is selectively photodeposited at the interface, poisoning highly active but nonselective sites.
