Seismic responses of long segmental immersed tunnel under unfavorable loads combination

To investigate the seismic performance of the immersed tunnel-foundation system, a spatial nonlinear model was established based on a modified model from Anastasopoulos (2007) method. In the spatial model, two key factors including temperature and prestress are synthetically considered. From a viewpoint of engineering practice, the influences of temperature loads and prestress tendons load on the seismic performance of the tunnel were studied numerically. Results show that: compared with the case of temperature rising, temperature falling load has more adverse effects on the seismic performance of the segmental immersed tunnel with respect to the deformation behaviors of joints and internal forces of segments. Retaining prestress tendons has favorable effects on the sealing of segmental joints, but has adverse effects on the sealing of immersion joints, and these adverse effects are more obvious in the temperature falling case.
