Natural Polysaccharide Arabinogalactan in Composite Materials

Abstract

Orevac–crumb rubber–arabinogalactan composites of different composition are obtained under the action of shear deformations in a Brabender mixer. The structure, mechanical properties, and biodegradability of the materials are studied. It is shown that an increase in arabinogalactan content leads to increase in elastic modulus and decrease in elongation at break, as well as slightly affecting the tensile strength. The mass loss of the samples after exposure in soil defining their biodegradability rises with an increase in arabinogalactan content in the composites.
