Synthesis and X-ray Structural Study of Dioxalate Complexes of Uranyl and Plutonyl with Urea

Abstract

An X-ray diffraction study of crystals of two oxalate-containing uranyl complexes: (NH4)2UO2(C2O4)2·Urea·H2O (I), Rb2UO2(C2O4)2·Urea·H2O (II) and a new plutonyl complex (NH4)2PuO2(C2O4)2·Urea·H2O (III), was performed. Crystals I–III contain island complexes [AnO2(C2O4)2(Urea)]2– (An = U or Pu) of AB012M1 group ( UO22+ or PuO22+, B01 = C2O42–, M1 = Urea). Compounds I–III are found to be isostructural. An effect of the nature of outer-sphere cations on the features of intermolecular interactions in crystal structures was considered using the Voronoi–Dirichlet molecular polyhedron method.
