ABSTRACT

The aim of this research work is to find out a relation between the class attendance of the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) students and their academic attainment in face-to-face lectures and in labs. In addition, a survey has been conducted to know the issues faced by the students about partially compulsory attendance policy. Findings of this survey suggest that prerequisites may be taught online, timetable should not have long gaps between the classes, commuting is a big hindrance for attendance, and asynchronous lectures should compensate the attendance. The results clearly indicate that students’ attendance has a direct relation with their academic attainment. This, presumably the first of its kind study in Indian context, will surely help academic administrators to frame academic policies.

这项研究工作的目的是找出技术学士 (B. Tech.) 学生的课堂出勤率与他们在面对面授课和实验室中的学业成绩之间的关系。此外，还进行了一项调查，以了解学生在部分义务教育政策方面面临的问题。本次调查的结果表明，先决条件可以在线授课，课程之间的时间表不应有很长的间隔，通勤是出勤率的一大障碍，异步授课应该弥补出勤率。结果清楚地表明，学生的出勤率与他们的学业成绩有直接关系。这大概是在印度背景下进行的同类研究中的第一项，肯定会帮助学术管理人员制定学术政策。
