To the Editor We would like to thank Lewit et al for their Research Letter, “Association of Sex and Race/Ethnicity With National Institutes of Health Funding of Surgeon-Scientists”1 for addressing the urgent issue of disparities in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding. There is a continued need for such investigations to illuminate the unique challenges faced by underrepresented and/or marginalized surgeon-scientists as they progress through academic surgery.2,3
