The paper describes the acquisition of the submerged topography of the federal waterway and river Elbe during the low discharge period in 2018 using airborne laser bathymetry, also referred to as airborne hydromapping. Within 3 days, a total area of about 480 km2 and a river length of 580 km were surveyed in August 2018. This measurement campaign constitutes the base for a new Digital Elevation Modell of the river Elbe.
