We are humbled and honored to assume the editorship of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR). We are thankful for the confidence placed in us by the selection committee of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). We are also grateful to the immediate past editors, Drs. Chris Roberts and Linda Shea for the excellent job they have done over the past 5 years—they hand over the journal in very good shape, as reflected among others in its impact factor. JHTR has published high-quality, refereed articles that advance the knowledge base of the hospitality and tourism field since its first publication in 1976. As new editors, we are committed to building on the Journal’s extant foundation and further advancing its mission, firmly believing in the core principle of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA, 2013), “Editors should be committed to assessing research on its own merits.” In this editorial, we would like to share with our readership a set of priorities identified to enhance author engagement as well as the key values of having your research published in JHTR.
