It is with pleasure as well as awe that I now commence my tenure as editor of Aquaculture Economics and Management. During her 14 years as editor, Carol Engle has done a fabulous job editing the journal, improving quality and increasing visibility. The impact factor for the journal for 2018 is 3.25! There are few single numbers that better illustrate the job she has done, and the legacy she leaves behind. It is an honor to take over a well-run journal focusing on a topic that is both exiting and highly relevant. Globally, aquaculture production has exploded in recent decades and aquaculture has already taken over from wild fisheries as the most important source of seafood for human consumption. I expect that global aquaculture production will be larger than fisheries landings before my tenure as editor of the journal is over. This development will create a number of opportunities and challenges that economists and social scientist are well places to address. I hope you all will ensure the future success of the journal by continuing to submit high-quality papers and serve as reviewers.
