Published in February 2019, Randy Lippert and Kevin Walby’s A Criminology of Policing and Security Frontiers aims to highlight forms of security that are rarely discussed in the literature of academic criminology. These include the emergence of community safety officers (CSO), conservation officers, privately funded ambassadors, public corporation security officers, and public police who have been privatized through “user pays” hiring techniques. These officers are essential to the policing of a variety of security frontiers. The authors invoke three particular kinds of frontier:
