To the Editor We read with great interest the article by Santos et al¹ on the opportunity of treating recurrent, complicated, or symptomatic diverticulitis by conservative management or elective sigmoidectomy and related quality of life (QoL).

We congratulate the authors for their efforts in conducting this randomized clinical trial. However, we would like to raise concerns and make comments on the study design, conduction, and results.
