Model of Spherical Ion Diode with Laser-Plasma Anode for Neutron Generation

Abstract

A model of spherical pulsed ion diode with laser-plasma anode for generation of neutrons in nuclear fusion reaction between deuterium and tritium is proposed. Formation and acceleration of deuteron packet in the diode is analyzed taking into account adiabatic mechanism of laser-plasma expansion in the form of the Riemann shock wave and the influence of electrostatic oscillations in the region of plasma–vacuum interface. Electrodynamic and neutron characteristics of the proposed accelerating tube based on the studied diode are analyzed by using the results of computer simulation.
