Geoheritage of the municipalities of Juazeiro do Piauí, Novo Santo Antônio, São João da Serra, and Sigefredo Pacheco, Piauí State, Brazil

This work aims to inventory and quantify the geoheritage of the municipalities of Juazeiro do Piauí, Novo Santo Antônio, São João da Serra, and Sigefredo Pacheco, in Piauí State, Brazil. Guided by adapted forms from Pereira (2006) and Oliveira (2015), 6 geosites and 30 geomorphosites were inventoried and quantified. Obtaining 37 points in the final ranking, Cachoeira do Rosário geomorphosite was considered the most representative site in the area, due to the high positions reached in all 7 indicators. Complexo Mini Cânion do Rio Poti geomorphosite with 40 points was placed in 2nd position, also due to the good positions reached. The following geomorphosites are Cachoeira do Tingidor with 59 points, Cachoeira do Covão do Jaburu with 72 points, and Cachoeira do Quebra Anzol with 73 points. On the other hand, Complexo Serra do Evangelista geomorphosite was classified in 36th position, last place in the final ranking (Rk), with 233 points, obtaining the lowest score among the 36 sites. One concludes that the exploitation of this potential in a sustainable way can provide income generation and consequently improvements in the quality of life of the resident populations in the study area. In order to perpetuate these elements and make residents and visitors sensitize of their values (scientific, educational, touristic, among others), the need for a use plan of these geosites and geomorphosites as a way to strengthen tourism in the region is noteworthy, and thus boosts the economy of the municipality.
