Single-Position Passive Location and Navigation with Allowance for the Evolution of the Radio Signal Period at the Reception Point

Abstract

In this paper, we develop a single-position method of passive location and navigation with allowance for the periodicity of the radiated radio signal (the period may not be known) when one of the objects in the radiation source–observer pair is stationary and the second moves along a piecewise linear trajectory with an unknown velocity. The measured parameter is the time difference between the periods of the emitted and received radio signals. The issues related to the estimation of the Doppler frequency corrections based on this discrepancy, to the observability of the method for different special cases, the estimate of its accuracy characteristics, and practical recommendations are considered. A numerical example is given.
