Inserted by few red phosphorus, expanded graphite exhibited a high reversible specific capacity of 418 mAh g−1 at a current density of 100 mA g−1. At 500 mAh g−1, 296 mAh g−1 with a retention of 83.3% after 1000 cycles at room temperature and 228 mAh g−1 with a retention of nearly 100% after 100 cycles at −10 °C were obtained. Furthermore, the results suggest actual availability under extreme cold conditions (−50 °C).
