We are delighted to commence as the new JME co-Editors-in-Chief and warmly welcome readers to our first issue at the helm. We are both humbled and excited to step into the role and look forward to engaging with you all! Our enthusiasm about this leadership opportunity during COVID-19 might be perplexing to many. Indeed, when we told our family, friends, and colleagues that we were applying for this position in late 2020, the most frequent well-intentioned response we received was: “Why would you want to do this in the middle of a global pandemic?” The reality is that there are many rational reasons amidst this time of considerable uncertainty that we wanted to be part of JME and lead the journal for the next three years. Our conviction is rooted in JME’s history, the support of the outgoing co-Editor team, our professional and life experiences, and the now very obvious mandate management education has to address the social, ecological, and economic challenges that await the next generation.
