ABSTRACT

In recent years, reinforced thermoplastic composite pipe (RTP) is widely sought after because of its high strength and corrosion resistance. The development of a connector that is easy to install and highly reliable is essential for the successful application of RTP. In this paper, the mechanical properties of a butt-welding armoured joint between composite pipes were investigated by theoretical calculation method and finite element method. A plane strain model was established to study the mechanical response of the joint under internal pressure. In order to verify the theoretical results, a finite element model was established to analyse the stress distribution of the joint. Moreover, the finite element results are in good agreement with the theoretical results. The research of this paper provides a valuable reference for the engineering application of the joint in the pipeline system.

摘要
