The consumption of conventional fossil fuels and halogen-based refrigerants in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems have initiated the research interest on developing alternative energy resources and environment friendly working fluids for refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps and heat pipes applications. The halogen-based refrigerants have significant global warming potential, which are restricted by Paris protocol 2016. Consequently, it is essential to identify a suitable environment friendly refrigerant for replacing the existing halogen-based refrigerants. This special issue is focusing on “Energy and Environment” in Proceedings of Mechanical Engineering Part-E Journal of Processes Mechanical Engineering is dedicated to the research and developments in the field of environment friendly refrigerants for refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pump and heat pipe applications. This special issue contains the selected research papers presented in International Conference on Energy and Environment 2019 and International Conference on Environment friendly refrigerants 2020 organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.

Proceedings of Mechanical Engineering Part-E Journal of Processes Mechanical Engineering
