ABSTRACT

Soul Circles presents a series of twenty-four mandalas produced by Jeremy Jensen during a period of analysis, with short commentaries by Jensen and his analyst, David Rosen. The book reveals how, through the dissolving and coagulation of opposites that makes up the therapeutic process, the psyche births symbols of wholeness. The review shows how the mandalas divide into three processes corresponding to the three main stages of the alchemical opus—nigredo, albedo, and rubedo—while the image of a rose containing the Star of David, a play on the analyst’s name, travels through the series as a companion and support, highlighting the central role of transference in any transformative therapy.
