In this contribution, the phase field model for dynamic brittle fracture is investigated with an emphasis on the time discretization scheme. The precise integration scheme, which is known unconditionally stable for ordinary dynamics, is employed for the phase field model. The governing equation for the phase field model is thus formulated and discussed. Ways in the precise integration scheme for homogenizing the discretized equations for different loading scenarios are introduced. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the proposed method. The results show the proposed scheme allows a larger time interval then the widely used finite difference method for the phase field model.
