An Analysis of Decay of Blast Waves in Dusty Gases

In this paper, the effect of the dust particles on the decay of blast waves is studied in a two-phase, unsteady flow of an inviscid gas with small dust particles. Asymptotic analysis is used to derive the zeroth and the first order solutions and it is generalised to all geometries, i.e., planar, cylindrical and spherical. The forms of drag force and the heat transfer rate experienced by the particles not in equilibrium with the gas are derived. The decaying characteristics of blast waves along with the enhancements in decay caused by varying the quantity of dust are investigated.
