Abstract

The concepts of the digital urban environment, digital society, and information are clarified on the basis of Russian and foreign research. The historical aspect of the emergence of digital city projects is described. The properties and development trends of the digital urban environment, as well as the role of information in a digital society, have been systematized. The specificity of information properties in the digital urban environment is revealed. Some statistical data on the use of information and communication technologies in Russian cities are provided.
