Award-winning independent filmmaker Kurt Orderson talks with Natasha Himmelman about his 2018 documentary, Not In My Neighbourhood (NIMN). Breaking down how NIMN struggles against spatial violence and its relationship to abolition, he provides insight into how Cape Town, Sao Paulo and New York, so-called ‘global cities,’ are connected through ever-present legacies of colonialism. After their conversation, Graeme, Jose, Imani and Nete, who feature in the film, speak with Natasha about what has happened since NIMN.
