Energy Transmission Modes and Output Ripple Voltage of Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network

ABSTRACT

A new type of Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network is proposed. To analyze the output voltage ripple characteristics of the Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network. According to the operation modes between input inductor and storage energy inductor of Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network, the operation modes of the converter are divided. The energy Transmission process of storage energy inductor in continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) of Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network is analyzed. According to the comparison between the minimum current flowing through the energy storage inductor and the output current, It is proposed that the energy transmission of the energy storage inductor working in CCM is divided into complete power supply mode (CISM) and incomplete power supply mode (IISM). and The boundary inductance between CISM and IISM are obtained. Therefore, the Quadratic Buck–Boost Converters with Switched Inductor Network can be divided into CISM-CCM, IISM-CCM and DCM. The output ripple voltage of three modes is analyzed in detail, and the expression of output ripple voltage of energy storage inductor in three operating modes are deduced, respectively, and the relationship between output ripple voltage and energy storage inductor is summarized. It is concluded that the boundary inductance of CISM and IISM is the minimum inductance to minimize the output ripple voltage of the converter. Finally, the correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by experiments.
