Just over two decades ago, the American Behavioral Scientist (ABS) produced a seminal issue on environmental justice research and thought. Much has changed since then. Environmental justice (EJ) has blossomed as a field. There are many more college and university EJ programs around the world, high school and middle school students are reading EJ books and articles for their classes, and the number of EJ groups and organizations in the U.S. and around the world have skyrocketed. Not surprisingly, the number of EJ publications in circulation at any given time has grown astronomically. This being the case, ABS is producing a new special issue of the journal that is focused EJ.
