Developmental and behavioral problems are among the most prevalent health concerns faced by children, with approximately 20 percent of children having some type of behavioral, developmental, or learning difficulty (Halfon, Houtrow, Larson, & Newacheck, 2012). Developmental–behavioral pediatric practices across the United States struggle with issues of long waiting lists for evaluation. Even though clinicians and administrators of this subspecialty service work diligently to increase access, simply because of supply and demand logistics, lengthy wait times are to be expected. Nationally, average wait times have been estimated to be approximately five months, although anecdotal evidence has suggested that average wait times are up to 12 months or more ( Jimenez, Martinez Alcaraz, Williams, & Strom, 2017).
