A new buprestid genus and species, Burmagrilus cretacus Jiang, Song & Wang gen. et sp. nov., is found from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. The new genus is related to the extant genus Agrilus Curtis, 1825, similarities and differences are given. By sharing similar habitus characters, we surmise the new species might have shared the same habitual nature as Agrilus.
