The challenges and opportunities of creating diverse and inclusive workplaces have never been more important that they are today; but how are publishers responding to changing social expectations? This article reviews recently published data on diversity and inclusion in the publishing sector in the UK and North America and highlights the risks of failing to take action to make change. Finally, it proposes three areas where much more research is needed.
