Solidification of Rubidium-Modified Cast Aluminum Alloys

Abstract

The necessity to study the solidification parameters upon modifying Al–Si alloys is shown. The solidification of cast aluminum alloys modified by rubidium with the aim of significant improvement of their mechanical properties is analyzed. For a comparison of the efficiency of treatment with rubidium, aluminum alloys are modified by a standard flux based on sodium salts. The phase transformation temperatures and the parameters that take into account the precipitation of a solid phase in the solidification range are determined.
