ABSTRACT

How counselors understand and use nature-based counseling (NBC) practices is unknown. We investigated a national random sample of counselors, psychologists, and social workers’ (N= 406) attitudes toward, uses of, and barriers for integrating NBC practices. We found helping professionals who are EcoWell, have a broad definition of NBC, identify as a counselor, have prior training in NBC, and report fewer barriers to implementation are more likely to use NBC, regardless of practice setting.
