This special issue of Mathematical Social Sciences collects a selection of twelve original papers, covering different topics in growth and macroeconomic theories, and key related normative and positive themes. It gathers some of the major contributors to these research streams like Bob Becker, Jess Benhabib, Jean-Michel Grandmont and Kazuo Nishimura, together with other distinguished scholars, in memory of Professor Carine Nourry, who was a close friend of many of the contributors to this special issue. The body of this volume begins with a tribute to Carine by Grandmont et al. (2021).

The following part of this special issue has been organized in four sections. We describe here below the main original contributions of each paper together with a brief overview of the corresponding research stream. Needless to say, all the papers went through the standard review process.
