Computation of Effective Properties of Graded and Layered Dielectrics

In this work, a finite element-based model is developed for the computation of effective dielectric constant and/or conductivity of single layer, multi-layered, and FGM composites. The computed values are validated against experimental data, and are seen to provide estimates better than all theoretical models. Thus, this computational model is expected to be useful in the design of new insulation systems.
