I am writing with regard to the article written by Erika L. Sabbath (2019), “The Workplace, Social Work, and Social Justice: Framing an Emerging Research and Practice Agenda,” which appeared in the October 2019 issue of this journal. In her article, Sabbath makes a very convincing argument for social workers to embrace advocating for workers in relation to the health and well-being risks they face because of various occupational hazards. She eloquently reminds us that one of the core principles of social work is advocacy. She systematically lays out the argument that workers, as a group of people, face a significant risk and deserve our professional attention. I agree wholeheartedly with Sabbath, and I take her argument a step further.
