Since the mid-20th century, Europe has changed dramatically, in many ways.1 It has lost its colonies, and as it established crony-ship with the world’s dictators and autocrats, and continued unabashedly to plunder the world’s riches, it slowly but surely lost its self-proclaimed patina of ‘civilization.’ Its symbolic value as a protector of equality and human rights around the world had all but disappeared by the end of 20th century.
