Cavity ring-down spectroscopy study of neon assisted recombination of H3+ ions with electrons

A stationary afterglow apparatus with Cavity Ring-Down spectrometer was combined with electron number density measurement system to study the third-body assisted recombination of H3+ ions with electrons in neon gas at the temperature of 110 K. The measured ternary recombination rate coefficient KNe(110K)=(1.8±0.2)×10-25cm6s-1 is close to that obtained in helium buffered plasma. The applicability of the present experimental setup for Einstein coefficients determination is also discussed.
