Optical Vortices in Quadratic Nonlinear Media with Nonlinear Absorption

Abstract

A study is performed for the propagation of optical vortices in quadratic nonlinear media with linear and nonlinear absorption. When such beams propagate in media with a quadratic nonlinearity without absorption, their vortex structure is destroyed and they break up into several nonvortex quasi-solitons. Nonlinear absorption allows the beam to keep its structure longer.
