Prediction on fatigue properties of the plain weave composite under broadband random loading

In this paper, the fatigue properties of the plain weave composite subjected to broadband random loading are investigated. A prediction method is proposed to calculate the failure probability of the composite under random loading by combining the probability density function of the residual strength and the probability density function of the stress peaks. The stress randomness and the strength dispersity are both taken into account in the analysis of the residual strength and the failure probability curves. The fatigue life data of the plain weave composite under broadband random responses are obtained from the random vibration tests. The predicted results are in good agreement with the experiments.
