I am deeply honoured and delighted to write this statement as the new Editor‐in‐Chief of the Asian Journal of Social Psychology. I always feel a strong sense of connection to the journal. My history with it began in 2004 when I published the very first research article in my career, which was a piece about social perception biases during the SARS outbreak, in the April issue. Three years later, I managed to publish my M.Phil. dissertation study in the journal. I have also served as an editorial board member and associate editor. Now, in the midst of the COVID‐19 pandemic, I am about to take over its leading role.

I am grateful to the outgoing Editor‐in‐Chief, Allan B. I. Bernardo, for sharing his insights and experiences with me during the transition period. The journal has had a lot of success under his excellent stewardship, and I am very fortunate to be his successor. I would like to thank Hoon‐Seok Choi, President of the Asian Association of Social Psychology, and members of the Executive Committee of the Association, who place their trust and confidence in me to lead the journal. I am very excited about the opportunity to work together with Angela Ka‐yee Leung and Sammyh Khan, who will be Co‐Editors‐in‐Chief. Angela is a long‐time friend and collaborator of mine, and Sammyh and I served as Associate Editors for the journal during the past 3 years. It is also a great pleasure to have a team of excellent and capable scholars as Associate Editors: Emma Buchtel, Bobby K. Cheon, Peilian Chi, Ilan Dar‐Nimrod, Hongfei Du, Hirofumi Hashimoto, Chin Ming Hui, Kenichi Ito, Albert Lee, I‐Ching Lee, Xiaowan Lin, Sang Hee Park, and Fang Wang.

On behalf of the new editorial team, I would like to take this opportunity to first share with readers our vision. After that, I will clarify the journal’s Aim and Scope, explain changes in our editorial policies, and introduce a couple of initiatives under planning.
