Influence of the Growth of Earth’s Solid Core on the Effective Geodynamo

Abstract

A model of the Earth’s cooling, which describes the formation of a solid core, is considered. Its formation enhances the convection due to additional energy sources related to the crystallization of the core. At the same time, observations of the geomagnetic field have registered no significant changes in field stresses in the past. This work solves the inverse task finding the parameters for a model of the evolution of the core, which is based on its energy and entropy balance, at which the formation of the solid core has a minor effect on the amount of energy available for the generation of the magnetic field.
