Young children are noticers. They will stop in the middle of the sidewalk to study a trail of ants marching across the path. They will point out a lion they see in the billowy clouds. And they will pick out the smallest detail in the illustration of a book you are reading aloud to them. They see things we sometimes miss. As busy adults, we could learn much from these young noticers. In these unusual and unsettling times when our world seems to have slipped off its axis and we all feel a little off kilter, maybe we should take a deep breath and fix our gaze on something that surprises or intrigues us. The articles in this issue of The Reading Teacher offer us new ideas to notice and explore.
