Evaluation of concrete made with stone and brick aggregate using non-destructive testing

The quality of concrete can be primarily judged by its compressive strength. Numerous methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) have been developed to approximate the compressive strength of in situ concrete. Schmidt's rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity methods are frequently used. In the study reported in this paper, both methods were applied and correlated with destructive testing of concrete. The focus of the study was on developing the NDT relationships for concrete made with coarse aggregates consisting of different mixtures of stone and brick aggregates. The correlation between Young's modulus (static, dynamic and shear) and longitudinal pulse velocity was also incorporated for evaluating complete features of the concrete. A number of experiments followed by statistical analyses was made to achieve the same result.
