Hybrid Catalyst for the Selective Synthesis of Fuel Range Hydrocarbons by the Fischer–Tropsch Method

Abstract

The results of the development of a hybrid catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of liquid hydrocarbons by the Fischer–Tropsch method are presented. The catalyst was synthesized by the mechanical mixing and molding of Co–Al2O3/SiO2, zeolite HZSM-5, and boehmite powders. The zeolite was promoted with palladium by ion exchange (1.0 wt %). The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, BET, scanning and transmission electron spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia and hydrogen and tested at a temperature of 240°C, a pressure of 2.0 MPa, and a GHSV of 1000 h–1. The preparation method proposed makes it possible to obtain a hybrid catalyst with a stable structure and an average cobalt particle size of 8 nm; this catalyst exhibited high productivity and selectivity for the formation of liquid hydrocarbons from CO and H2.
