The plasma density and the reduced-electric-field (REF) parameters of CO2 gas laser have been measured and calculated at the maximum and minimum discharge current in terms of the similarity variable in order to investigate the discharge regimes. These parameters have been obtained with various combinations of ratios of CO2: N2: He gases. The obtained results were based on a new definition of the reduced-mobility variable for each gas species. The REF values had reducing behavior and did not much differed at both maximum and minimum discharge currents. The electron density had ascending behavior at the maximum discharge current, while it remained almost constant at the minimum discharge current. These results show that the regime of normal glow predominates at the minimum current, while a sub-normal glow regime governs at the maximum discharge current
